Why Do I Only Have One Grandpa? is a touching and comforting story. Linne, the main character, struggles with a sad question: all the other children have two grandpas, but she only has one. In the story, Mum explains why Linne only has one grandpa and what happened to him. The book is a frame story told across twelve double-page spreads. The “frame” follows Linne as she learns about people who once lived but whom she never had the chance to know: the heroes in our hearts. Within this frame, we meet Grandpa Tom and discover what made him so special. At the end of the book, children and those reading with them are invited to talk about the heroes in their own hearts. In this way, the story becomes a bridge between generations, often bringing the most beautiful stories to life.
